Inverness manager Craig Brewster wants an apology from Ian Black before he considers selecting him again.
The 23-year-old midfielder was left out against Aberdeen and is currently training with the under-19 team.
"Ian Black made a comment after the Kilmarnock game and confirmed it at Monday's team meeting," Brewster told BBC Sport.
"There was no fall-out but until he apologises to the rest of the boys he'll be training with the 19s."
The Edinburgh-born Black moved to Inverness from Blackburn in 2004 and has been a first-team regular with the Highlanders.
"Ian has a year of his contract to run, so he's still a Caley Thistle player and we'll see what develops on that one," added Brewster.
The defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday was the seventh consecutive loss for Inverness, who have not won a game since they beat Gretna on 5 January.
However, Brewster saw enough in the dramatic 4-3 reverse to suggest his team can finish the campaign strongly.
"We were disappointed by the result but the energy and willingness pleased me," said Brewster.
"Yes, we could have defended better at the goals but we were up on things.
"Let's hope that can kick-start us again for the remaining six games of the season."
