Hull City defender Anthony Gerrard says he is playing with a calf problem that may eventually require surgery.
The 28-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at the KC Stadium from Cardiff City.
"People work 12 or 14 hour shifts so if I can bear a little pain or do certain things then that's what I've got to do," Gerrard told BBC Radio Humberside.
"Certain things I do are painful but we get paid a lot of money to kick a bit of leather around."
Gerrard added: "I'm only concentrating on my football and if I end up needing surgery then it happens and is part of football."
