Hull wait to hear length of Gardner injury lay-off
Gardner has struggled with injury since joining from Tottenham in 2008
Hull defender Anthony Gardner will have a surgical procedure next week to assess the ankle ligament damage he suffered in the 3-0 defeat at West Ham.
Gardner, 29, was stretchered off in the second half after falling awkwardly in a challenge with Matthew Upson.
"I'm not going to put a time on it but the damage is sufficient to keep him out of the Everton game," manager Phil Brown told the club website.
"We'll have a look on Wednesday and assess it further."
Gardner joined the club from Tottenham in a £2.5m transfer in 2008 but the former England international has had his share of injury problems since then.
He missed three months of his debut season at Hull with a thigh injury and later broke vertebrae in his back during an FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.
This season he has made 21 appearances for the club but a scan on Thursday confirmed he had suffered ligament damage so he will be sidelined again.
