Kaye's delight at Hull-WBA clash

John Kaye is looking forward to the meeting of his former clubs

Former Hull City player and manager John Kaye has said he did not believe the Tigers would ever face another ex-club West Brom in the Premier League.

He told BBC Look North: "I didn't think this time last year that Hull City would get there."

The Tigers were 18th in the Championship at the time and had not started the run which took them up.

Kaye made his name as central defender with West Brom, winning the 1968 FA Cup final with them.

He later transferred to Hull City and went on to become City's manager.

Commenting on the current side he said: "Phil Brown's got the mentality in the players now and they're believing in themselves. So many of the players have improved thanks to better players coming to the club like Geovanni and [George] Boateng."

Kaye will be attending Saturday's game as a guest of West Bromwich Albion.
