Tigers complete signing of Parkin
Ex-Macclesfield striker John Parkin
Hull have completed the signing of Macclesfield Town striker Jon Parkin for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old forward has signed an 18-month contract with the option of a further year at the KC Stadium.

Macclesfield had turned down bids from Chester and Lincoln for Parkin, who scored 30 goals in 63 league starts.

Parkin said: "Hull City are a massive club with great support and joining Peter Taylor is an excellent chance to progress my career."

Macclesfield were keen to keep hold of the 6 ft 4 in forward, who scored 26 goals last season.

But they are being forced to pay fines and compensation totalling more than 250,000 by the end of January following an inquiry into the funding of the Estate Road Stand under a previous administration.

Macclesfield boss Brian Horton told the club's website: "As a manager you're always disappointed to see good players leave, but Jon is going to a good club and it really is a brilliant move for him.

"He's a great lad, influential both on the pitch and in the dressing room, he will be missed. I wish him all the best for the future."

Former Barnsley and York striker Parkin is the Tigers' second signing in the space of two days, following Darryl Duffy's arrival from Falkirk.
