Huddersfield Town midfielder Danny Schofield has asked to leave the League One club at the end of the season. The 27-year-old has said that he wants a clean slate in his career after nine years at the club, making more than 280 appearances for the Terriers.
Town manager Andy Ritchie told the club website: "He has been a fantastic servant and ambassador for this club.
"He's a great lad and a great character and we are happy to support him in any way we can."
The club have also said that there has been no fall-out with the player.

"He has spoken with his family and has come to the conclusion that this is the best move for him and we will do all we can to help him."
Schofield's name has now been circulated to other clubs with a view to him leaving at the end of the season
"It is not a transfer request," said Ritchie. "We have circulated his name and he may go out on loan somewhere, or get a permanent move at the end of the season.
"There are no hard and fast timescales, so he will continue to train with us and we'll see how it goes."
Schofield joined Huddersfield from non-league Brodsworth and soon established himself as a fans' favourite.
He was voted into the club's top 100 favourite players of all time by supporters.
