Jackson says Sodje needs to improve |
Huddersfield have signed Akpo Sodje from non-league outfit Erith & Belvedere on a three-month deal, with a view to a longer stay. Sodje, brother of Terriers captain Efe, has impressed manager Peter Jackson.
"I am willing to give him a shot with a three-month deal," Jackson said following protracted talks with the Southern League Eastern Division side.
Sodje, 22, played in Wednesday's 2-1 reserve defeat at Doncaster but will not play in Sunday's Hull City clash.
Jackson previously had reservations in signing the player due to the compensation fee Erith & Belvedere were demanding.
But he added that Sodje's levels of match fitness must improve before he makes his first team debut.
"He is big and strong, but still very raw and he needs to get fitter.
"I would like to assess him over a longer period and I am waiting to hear back from Erith on how they want to progress," Jackson concluded.
Meanwhile it is uncertain if midfielder Tony Carss will play on Sunday, as he is still recovering from a knee injury.
