Hibernian manager John Hughes wants to sign midfielder Alan Gow but finances at the club may scupper any deal.
Gow spent the final part of last season on loan at Easter Road and has been told by his former club Plymouth Argyle he is free to move on.
"I would love to get Alan back but no talks have taken place," said Hughes.
"There has been a lot of work going on at the stadium and it may mean I have to shuffle the pack a bit to try and bring in Alan or anyone else."

Hughes was speaking after Hibs' 4-0 friendly win over Queen of the South at Palmerston.
Gow previously worked with Hughes when both were at Falkirk.
