Hibs boss John Hughes hails European qualification
Hibs manager John Hughes said his side deserved to finish fourth
Hibernian manager John Hughes hailed his players after they secured fourth spot and a Europa League place.
"It's been a great season and I think a lot of people have forgotten that. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon," he said after the 2-0 win over Dundee United.
"Over the last eight weeks, we've not been at our best, in terms of results. This is always a tough venue.
"It's great for the club and the supporters to get European football next year. It'll be a great adventure."
Colin Nish fired a double to secure a 2-0 win at Tannadice and pip Motherwell, with whom they drew 6-6 on Wednesday, to fourth spot.
I let myself visualise playing European football and I think we can do well in Europe
Hibs manager John Hughes
"The pleasing thing, apart from the European football, is to keep a clean sheet after the other night and the way that game went," added Hughes.
"I feel we deserve it. No disrespect to Motherwell. But, with the hard work our boys have put in, I think we deserved that European spot.
"I'm a dreamer; I'm in at Easter Road a couple of times a week, I see that new pitch being laid and that new stand going up. I let myself visualise playing European football.
"I think we can do well in Europe, let's enjoy it. Hopefully, the fans will be satisfied with that."
