Hibernian are likely to be without new signing Steven Thicot for about a month after the defender was injured in his league debut against Kilmarnock.
The French defender, who was previously with Nantes, had to be withdrawn after just 33 minutes of the 1-0 defeat.
Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen told his club website: "Thicot has injured his thigh muscle and I don't know how long it will take before he is back.
"It looks a bad one and we are probably looking at weeks rather than days."
It was a bad day for Hibs' three summer signings, with full-backs Joe Keenan and David Van Zanten also picking up knocks.
Van Zanten suffered a clash of heads that required stitches in a face wound.
"Joe Keenan and David Van Zanten were just minor injuries and they should be okay for next week," added Paatelainen.
Van Zanten was frustrated that he was off the field receiving treatment to his damaged forehead when the winning goal went in.
"We were in the dressing-room trying to get the blood to stop, which was proving quite difficult," he told Hibs' website.
"I eventually got back on, but it was already too late.
"I could hear the cheers from the crowd, I was desperate to get back on and help the side, but Killie took full advantage of their extra man."
The former St Mirren right-back was confident of facing Falkirk this weekend.
"The doctor said I will be alright, so hopefully it does not swell up too much and settles down so that it is not a problem for next week," he added.
"The Falkirk game is a big match for us and we must do everything we can to win it and get back on track."
