Paatelainen given touchline ban

Hibernian manager Mixu Paatelainen

Hibernian manager Mixu Paatelainen has been given a two-match touchline ban following his dismissal in this week's friendly defeat by Cowdenbeath.

Paatelainen was sent to the stands during the 2-0 defeat on 28 July.

"Mixu Paatelainen will serve a two-match suspension," a Scottish FA spokesperson said. "The ban will begin on 11 August, unless he appeals."

The Hibs boss will be banned for the home game against Falkirk and the away clash with Inverness a week later.

Hibernian have failed to score in nine games and lost their Intertoto Cup tie against Elfsborg 4-0 on aggregate.

Paatelainen was involved in a heated exchange with referee Brian Colvin before being sent to the stand at Central Park.

The Easter Road club have yet to find form and have lost pre-season matches against Barcelona, Cowdenbeath and Clyde, while they struggled to a goalless draw against Raith Rovers.

Paatelainen says he is keen to add some firepower to his squad but will have to watch the two games following the SPL opener at Rugby Park from the stand.

Speaking on Wednesday, he said: "I want to bolster the striking department. We haven't scored too many goals.

"Am I worried? No, because we have goalscorers in the side. I know we will score goals, there's no question about that.

"We have players who create chances and we have players who score goals, no problem."
