Paatelainen's side lacked a cutting edge at Ibrox |
Hibernian manager Mixu Paatelainen condemmed Nacho Novo's tackle on Thierry Gathuessi which earned the Rangers striker a red card at Ibrox. "When a player dives in with two feet it is always a major incident," he told BBC Sport after the 1-0 Scottish Cup fifth-round defeat.
"It was very important for me to make sure Thierry didn't react to the challenge when it happened.
"I'm sure (Rangers manager) Walter Smith realises that it was careless."
Chris Burke's goal in the 39th-minute booked Rangers' passage to the quarter-final.
And Paatelainen, who won the SPL manager of the month award for February, lamented a lack of cutting edge from his team.
"We simply weren't calm enough in front of goal today.
"At times we had chances to get back into the game, but some of the players lacked a bit of composure at crucial moments"
