Bonhof in running for Hibs post
Rainer Bonhof
Bonhof left his post as Scotland Under-21 coach in November 2005
Former Scotland Under-21 coach Rainer Bonhof is a candidate for the manager's job at Hibs, BBC Scotland understands.

The German former World Cup winner, 55, has spoken to the Easter Road board about filling the vacancy created by John Collins' recent resignation.

Bonhof left his post at the SFA in November 2005, a year early, after his Scotland side finished bottom of their European Championship qualifying group.

Collins walked out of Easter Road in December after 14 months in the job.

Bonhof is currently employed as a scout for English Premier League side Chelsea, covering Germany and Austria.

Bonhof was brought in to work with Scotland's young players by fellow German Berti Vogts when Vogts became senior coach of the national side in 2002.

He was also Vogts' assistant during Germany's Euro 96 victory.

Prior to that Bonhof had managed the Kuwaiti side Sporting.

In a glittering playing career he collected 53 caps for West Germany, winning the 1974 World Cup on home soil.
