Hibernian manager John Collins does not expect to be asked to become the next Scotland boss - and admits he would pick an older man. "It's flattering to be linked with the post, its always nice to get a mention," said the 39-year-old.
"One day I would love to manage my country, of course I would.
"If there comes a time that I'm asked, I'll think about it, but I think it's more suited to an older, more experienced manager."
Collins, who is in the second year of his first managerial assignment, could understand the attraction of managing in the Premier League in England that led to Alex McLeish leaving for Birmingham City.
But he believes McLeish that would have stayed with the national team if they had secured qualification to Euro 2008.

"There's positives and minuses in the role, but there's no doubt it's a different role to being a club manager," he said.
"There's only a game every two or three months.
"It's always going to be a possibility that the manager will be lured away to club football. There's always going to be that draw of the Premier League.
"You're still the manager of a football team, but you're not buying and selling players, you're not really coaching or getting their fitness levels up.
"You're not on the pitch every day, you're not building your own team, you're not training them, you're just getting them for three or four days.
"But you shake them up, you get them playing your way, so the principals are still the same and you still get a lot of pleasure in managing your team and playing against the world's best to try to get to major tournaments."
