John Collins was named SPL manager of the month

The 39-year-old, whose side sit second in the SPL, emerged as a possible contender for the Loftus Road job following John Gregory's exit.

And Collins told The Scotsman: "There was something, but it was just a phone call. But that's done, it's in the past and it won't be happening.

"I have a job to do here and I intend to see it through."

Former Hibs, Celtic, Everton, Monaco and Scotland midfielder Collins is approaching the end of his first year in charge of the Easter Road club.

He steered Hibs to a CIS Insurance Cup triumph last season, during which he survived a dressing-room revolt by some players unhappy with the regime instigated by the man who took over from West Brom-bound Tony Mowbray.

And, this term, the Edinburgh outfit are unbeaten after nine matches of the Scottish Premier League season and lie in second place.

It led to Collins being named this week as manager of the month for September in the SPL.

That success attracted QPR chiefs Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, who are seeking a high-profile appointment for the side sitting bottom of the Championship in England.

"My contract covers the rest of this season and the following year," pointed out Collins.
