Murphy was a CIS Cup winner with Hibernian last season |
West Brom manager Tony Mowbray has dropped his interest in Hibernian's David Murphy after being quoted a "ridiculous price" for the left-back. Mowbray brought the 23-year-old to Easter Road on a free transfer from Middlesbrough three years ago.
But it appears he will not be reunited with the player at The Hawthorns.
Mowbray told the Scotsman: "I had one discussion six weeks ago. I was quoted a ridiculously high price for a player who cost nothing. It finished there."
Murphy, under contract until 2010, has been a big hit in the Scottish Premier League and is hugely popular with Hibs fans.
He has been one the club's most consistent performers during his three campaigns in Edinburgh and helped Hibs win the CIS Insurance Cup last season.
