Paul Dalglish had been a short-term option for Hibs |
Hibernian striker Paul Dalglish has quit the club to sign for Major League Soccer side Houston Dynamo. The 29-year-old joined the Edinburgh club from Livingston in January but has found first-team opportunities limited after injury hampered his progress.
Hibs boss Tony Mowbray said: "It is not as if Paul was unhappy at our club. He simply wanted to go and play, so we were not going to stand in his way.
"He had become frustrated sitting on the bench so we allowed him to go."
Dalglish, the son of former Celtic, Liverpool and Scotland striker Kenny, made five starts, plus 11 appearances as a substitute, scoring one goal for the Edinburgh club.

"At the end of January, we had a predicament in that players such as Scott Brown and Dean Shiels were injured and, we believed at that time, out for the rest of the season," Mowbray told the Edinburgh Evening News.
"We were pretty thin on the ground for attacking options and Paul was someone we knew could come in and play wide on either side or down the middle.
"He made a contribution. He did well.
"He is a good lad, very enthusiastic about his game, but now times have moved on, we have a lot of options and his opportunities have become restricted."
Dalglish began his career at Celtic before moving to Liverpool, Newcastle United, Norwich City, Blackpool, Linfield, Modena and Livingston.
He also had loan spells with Bury, Wigan Athletic and Scunthorpe United.
