Riordan has scored 13 goals this season |
Rangers have failed in their efforts to sign Hibernian striker Derek Riordan. The Easter Road club rejected two bids from Ibrox for the 23-year-old and say they had two offers from foreign clubs that the player would not consider.
Riordan is out of contract in October and has turned down repeated approaches to extend his stay at Hibs.
Rangers chief executive Martin Bain told the club website: "We could not agree a fee with Hibs and we wish the player all the best in the future."
Riordan could be facing Rangers on Saturday, with Hibs travelling to Ibrox in the Scottish Cup.
Hibs said one of the overseas bids was a seven figure sum, but the player is not interested in a move abroad.
Hibs manager Tony Mowbray told the club website: "We have said all along that the player would only leave if a club came in with an offer that matched our valuation.
"He is a striker who scores goals and he and his goals have a value to us and if that means he simply plays out his contract then so be it.
"Derek will remain an important member of our first team squad."
The Edinburgh club revealed last week that they had turned down an offer from German side Kaiserslautern.
And BBC Sport understands the other foreign club was Dnipro from Ukraine, who knocked Hibs out of this season's Uefa Cup.
Riordan was left out of the team at the start of the season after rejecting the chance to move to Cardiff City but worked his way back and his goals helped Hibs move up the SPL table.
