And the English Championship club have announced that the Scottish Premier League outfit are to take over the remainder of the player's contract.
The Cambridge-born midfielder's deal with Ipswich was due to run out at the end of the season.
Hibs manager Tony Mowbray had first-hand experience of Murray as he was first-team coach at Ipswich before taking over at Easter Road.
The midfielder will also be re-united with Sam Morrow, who progressed through the Academy team alongside Murray at Portman Road.

Mowbray told the Edinburgh Evening News: "He hasn't progressed as much as he probably should have for a lad with his talent."
