Hereford United backing derby crowd probe

Dave Keyte
Hereford chairman Keyte will ban any fans found to have been involved

Hereford United have offered their backing to any investigation into the trouble that occurred at Tuesday's local derby with Shrewsbury.

The Bulls will take a close look at all the reports and information, which is currently being gathered by both Shrewsbury Town and the police.

"We are sad and sickened by what happened," chairman Dave Keyte told the club's website.

"Hopefully all the culprits will be identified and dealt with.

He added: "This sort of thing casts a shadow over the club, its loyal supporters and the game of football.

"The outbreak last night was mindless and pointless and we will make sure that any guilty supporters from Hereford will be banned from the ground."

Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner says he was aware of the problems in the ground:

"I glanced across several times to hope there wasn't too much trouble in the corner.

"I was asked not to wave towards the end of the game because that was provoking one or two of the incidents."
