Pugh is Hereford's top scorer with six goals this season

Hereford United top scorer Marc Pugh has praised his side's battling performance to overcome non-league Sutton United in the FA Cup.

The Bulls won their first round home tie 2-0 but had striker Mathieu Manset sent off in the first half.

Pugh told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "We've ground out a result in the end despite the sending off, I thought we defended well and were solid as a team.

"They put us under pressure but didn't really create any great chances."

He added: "All 10 of us left on the field gave 100% and Craig King worked the channels well.

"No disrespect to them, they came here gave a good performance, and credit to themselves."
