Adrian Mrowiec has signed a three-year deal with Hearts, having joined the Edinburgh club for pre-season training.

The Polish midfielder, 26, made 10 appearances for the Tynecastle side while on loan from Kaunas the season before last.

And he spent last term in his homeland with top-flight club Arka Gdynia.

He was joined on a trial basis by 23-year-old Lithuanian striker Rytis Leliuga, who was with Danish super league club HB Kobe last season.

Manager Jim Jefferies, who hopes to retain goalkeeper Marian Kello on an extended contract, told the club website: "I have looked at him and I think you need a squad of players.

"He has acquitted himself well. We have been impressed and I think there is a job he can do for us.

"There are no guarantees but he is a big strong physical presence and he will be a useful addition."

Meanwhile, winger Andrew Driver is confident he will be fit for the start of the season following minor knee surgery in Stockholm.

"The surgeon in Sweden was brilliant. He said the problem is actually really small, and getting it fixed should help me get back up and running pretty quickly," said Driver, who was the subject of a failed bid by Burnley last month.

"I am hoping that in four to six weeks I will be back in training, starting with the bike this week."
