Kingston may miss Cup of Nations

Hearts midfielder Laryea Kingston could be out for up to eight weeks following the recurrence of a hamstring problem in Saturday's draw with Dundee United.

Manager Csaba Laszlo told BBC Scotland the injury also casts doubt on Kingston's participation in the African Cup of Nations with Ghana in January.

Kingston was recently involved in a club-versus-country row and was fined for breaching club discipline.

The player apologised and vowed to win back the Hearts fans.

Laszlo was upset when Kingston turned out twice for Ghana when he had yet to play for Hearts because of injury.

Kingston insisted he would not be bullied into putting his club before his country before making an apology to Hearts fans after his first appearance of the Scottish Premier League season.

The midfielder missed the 2006 World Cup through suspension and says he wants to give himself every chance of playing in South Africa in 2010.

The African Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place between 10 and 31 January 2010 in Angola.
