Goncalves urges funds for Laszlo

Goncalves would like manager Csaba Laszlo to stay at Hearts

Hearts defender Jose Goncalves has warned Vladimir Romanov that manager Csaba Laszlo could walk away if he is not given enough transfer funds.

Laszlo revealed that Hearts owner Romanov has offered to extend his contract but will not sign until the club matches his ambitions.

"He tried to do his best to bring players he wants here to build a better team," said Goncalves.

"But also the people here have to try to help him to do that."

Laszlo, who has two years of his current deal to run, has been frustrated in his attempts to bring new faces to the club following the departure of key players.

It's very important for us to have him here, because everyone knows with him we can achieve a lot.

Thursday night's 4-0 Europa League humiliation at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb highlighted the need to improve the squad if Laszlo is to repeat last season's third-place finish in the Premier League.

And Goncalves is desperate for the Hearts manager to stay.

"It's very important for us to have him here, because everyone knows with him we can achieve a lot," he said.

"He knows a lot about football and he's got a lot of experience.

"He cannot do anything on his own."
