Former Scotland Under-21 defender Lee Wallace has signed a new three-year deal with Hearts.

Wallace has played a major part in the club's revival this season and they presently sit in third spot in the Scottish Premier League table.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from Hearts, but this deal ties him to the club until June 2012.

"This helps secure my future and gives me a bit of stability, which is great," Wallace told Hearts' website.

"Now I just want to concentrate on playing well for the club and help us get into Europe.

"It has been a good season for the team so far and I'm looking forward to helping bring more success to Tynecastle."

Wallace, who joined Hearts aged 12, was named the Scottish Premier League's young player of the month in February.

And this week he received the young player of the year award at the club's own youth development awards.
