Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo praised his side's fighting spirit - and fine football - after steering his team to a 3-2 win over Motherwell on his debut.

"Their spirit was what I needed and this was very entertaining," he said.

"All the time football is a wonderful game and win, lose or maybe you make a draw but congratulations to Motherwell, a fantastic team, a very good team.

"But congratulations to my team. I have been here four weeks and I think this is the best game I have seen."

Laszlo has impressed the importance of grit to his team and was delighted they have grasped his philosophy of football so quickly.

"The first game for everybody is the most important game, not only when you have a new manager, also you come back in the stadium and you would like to show for the people," he said.

"I am for passion and for fighting. I was eight-times operated on one knee, but I stand up all the time and came back to professional football.

"If the player sees a coach who is positive, his body language is positive.

"Also you must be strong and you must have discipline. I think today there was not only a game from the fighting and the spirit, we played very good football some of the time.

"In the end we won 3-2 and I hope we can enjoy these three points.

"I think with this spirit we can make a surprise against Rangers next week."
