Hearts have signed Austrian winger Elias Wagner - only days after he left Edinburgh rivals Hibernian. The 16-year-old had signed for Hibs in the summer from Admira Wacker, but the Easter Road outfit granted his request for release citing his lack of games.
But he has joined Hearts on a three-year contract and become part of their Under-19 squad.
Hearts academy director John Murray said: "We were aware that the boy had not settled and made enquiries."
Wagner told Hearts' website: "It feels good to be here. I have had a warm welcome from everyone and I am sure that thismove will be good for my career.
"I am sure being at Hearts will help me develop and mature as a player."
Hibs had earlier reported that Wagner had been released from his two-year contract "for personal reasons" and that he was returning to Austria.
And he was quoted in the Daily Record as saying: "I have no problems with anyone at Hibs and I enjoyed being there, but I feel I need to develop as a footballer.
"I am grateful to Hibs for having the faith to sign me, but I need to play at a higher level than the youth league."
