Frail vows not to make panic buys
Hearts assistant Stephen Frail
Stephen Frail was happy with the effort put in by his team
Stephen Frail says Hearts will not be panicked into splashing out any money they receive for the sale of goalkeeper and captain Craig Gordon.

"We're not pushing the panic button," the Hearts assistant said after the 1-0 defeat by Hibernian at Tynecastle.

"People are thinking we will get 8-9m for Craig. But if any of that is made available then we won't be buying for the sake of buying.

"We've got to make sure that those we bring in enhance the squad."

While Gordon travelled south for talks with interested clubs, with Sunderland, Aston Villa and Manchester City being touted as possible destinations, Hearts were losing their opening fixture of the season.

It could not be a worse night

Hearts assistant manager Stephen Frail

"We are very disappointed to lose the opening game of the season when you have done all your hard work in pre-season and everything is geared to this game against your local rivals," Frail told BBC Sport.

"It could not be a worse night and we need to dust ourselves down and get ourselves ready for Sunday's game against Aberdeen."

A goal after two minutes from Brian Kerr was enough to separate the sides.

"It was a bad goal to lose," said Frail. "We failed to cope with the ball over the top and the ball into the box.

"However, we tried to pass the ball, but the final ball in the final third was not there.

"We dominated the first half in terms of possession and it was a more even second half, but we certainly didn't deserve to win the game."
