Anatoly Korobochka is the interim head coach at Hearts |
Kaunas coach Angel Cervenkov is in line to join Hearts - but not as manager of the Edinburgh club. Hearts majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov's spokesman, Charlie Mann, told BBC Sport: "There is a possibility he will be joining Hearts."
But Mann stressed that it would only be in a capacity to help interim coach Anatoly Korobochka and his assistant, Stephen Frail.
Cervenkov is standing down as Kaunas coach after 17 games of the season.
Kaunas lie top but are equal on points with Vilnius and Zalgiris, who both have a game in hand.
Bulgarian Cervenkov led the side who are sponsored by Romanov's bank to a 1-0 Super Cup victory over Suduva, who sit fourth in the league and won the national cup.
But he will not be in charge should the reigning Lithuanian champions progress to the second qualifying round of the Champions League and secure a meeting with Rangers.
Former Kaunas coaches Valdas Ivanauskas, Egenijus Riabovas and Eduard Malofeev have all gone on to take charge of Hearts.
But Cervenkov does not have the coaching licence necessary to become the Scottish Premier League club's head coach.
However, he will join Malofeev, presently employed as a consultant, in helping with the Edinburgh club's pre-season training in Austria and Germany.
And he could win a permanent place on the coaching staff should that trial prove successful.
Meanwhile, Kaunas are to be managed by Andrei Zygmantovitch, presently coach of another club sponsored by Romanov, MTZ-RIPO Minsk.
But Mann dismissed reports that players presently on loan to Hearts from Kaunas could return to the Lithuanian club to play against Rangers.
