Gordon puts transfer talk aside
Craig Gordon jumps for joy with Scotland
Craig Gordon is Scotland's established number one
Scotland keeper Craig Gordon insists he is concentrating on preparing for the new season with Hearts instead of a transfer out of Tynecastle.

Sunderland are the latest English Premier League club to be linked with a possible bid for the 24-year-old.

"The transfer window still has a long way to run," said Gordon. "But, at the moment, it has been very quiet.

"I've got to remain fully focused on doing my job as captain of Hearts and getting ready for the new season."

Reports suggest that Sunderland manager Roy Keane has tabled a 3m offer for Gordon.

But Hearts have refused to comment, while assistant manager Stephen Frail last season suggested that the goalkeeper was worth 10m.

If there's something that would further your career, that's playing at a higher level of football, then that's something you have to consider

"It's entirely down to Hearts if they accept any bids and if there are any bids coming in," Gordon told Hearts' website.

"There aren't too many clubs looking for goalkeepers at the moment.

"It might just be case that something happens towards the end - who knows?

"I have to continue doing what I'm doing and developing as a player.

"I'm hopefully going to continue doing that wherever I may be.

"I'm just concentrating fully on the new season.

"It's starting again fairly soon and I have to be fit and ready to go for the start."

However, he admits that it would be tempting to move to a bigger stage should the right offer arrive this summer.

"At the end of the day, if there's something that would further your career, that's playing at a higher level of football, then that's something you have to consider," he said.

"The only reason people speculate about your football is if you are doing well, so it's a compliment in that sense, but I don't take too much notice of it."
