Hristos Karipidis is the second Greek to join Hearts |
Hearts have completed the signing of defender Hristos Karipidis from PAOK Salonika for a fee of about 200,000. The 23-year-old Greek has agreed a three-year contract and rates Hearts' chances against AEK Athens in their upcoming Champions League qualifier.
"AEK Athens is one of the top clubs in Greece, but Hearts are the same here and I think we have a good chance of reaching the group stages," he said.
"I am happy to join Hearts and I also like Edinburgh."
Karipdis had heard plenty about Hearts from his countryman Takis Fyssas and now the pair can line up together in the same team.
"I spoke to Takis and he told me a lot about the club, the country, the players and even the weather," he added.
"He says a move to Hearts would work out very well for a young player like me.
"I know they finished in second place last year and have a very good team."
