John Robertson is comfortable with the pressure |
Hearts chief executive Phil Anderton has laughed off reports that former England boss Terry Venables is being lined up to replace John Robertson. But he told BBC Sport that the club's present head coach would find his position reviewed in the summer.
"There's a very important few months ahead for the club and we'll just see how things go," Anderton said.
"John is an employee like anyone else and, just like any employee, no-one is going to be given absolute security."
Robertson was a Hearts hero as a player and only took over from Craig Levein this season, while former Scottish Rugby Union chief executive Anderton has only been in post for 10 days.
But Anderton stressed that the club's new owners would be demanding employers.
"John has a contract, it's very early days for him and it's important we give him the full backing," he said.
"But I'm not going to say - irrespective of contract, irrespective of results in the future - the manager, any manager, any employee, my position, anyone else's position is absolutely guaranteed for a certain number of months or years ahead.
"As for Terry Venables, it is a great April Fool's joke. We have made absolutely no approach."
Robertson, contracted to Hearts until 2007, insists that he is comfortable with any review.
"I'm just concentrating on my job and I'm very confident we'll be here past the summer," he said.
"The challenge for me is to coach my side into the Uefa Cup through the league positions and go on to the Scottish Cup final.
"I'm sure if I can do that then I won't have to worry about my future."
