Wadsworth joined the Hartlepool coaching staff in June

Hartlepool United caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth is to remain in charge of the League One club for the remainder of the season.

Wadsworth took control in August following the resignation of director of sport Chris Turner.

"Mick will remain as first-team coach. His brief will be to secure League One status," said chairman Ken Hodcroft.

"It will be at the end of this season that the club will prepare for the 2011/12 season."

In his statement to the club's annual general meeting, Hodcroft continued: "We have now re-organised and eliminated the position of director of sport, primarily to save money."

Hodcroft also revealed that the club's turnover fell by 9.5% to a figure £3.04 million in 2009, which he attributed to a drop in sponsorship income.

In addition, Pools have suffered at the turnstiles, with gate receipts down as the club battled against relegation from League One last season.

"Overall the club made an operating loss before depreciation of fixed assets and amortisation of players' contracts of £1.1m, the same as in 2008," the statement continued.

"The club remains reliant on the support of its owner [IOR, the company for whom Hodcroft is managing director], who provided a further £1.5m in 2009 taking its total investment to over £12m of funding since becoming involved with the club.

"Gate attendances are not as promising as we would like, despite freezing all ticket prices again and introducing some new offers.

"Less than 3,000 home supporters at the recent home games is disappointing.

"All this is of great concern and does not bode well for the future."
