Wilson slams Nelson exit rumours

Michael Nelson
Wilson is adamant that Michael Nelson will not be leaving the club

Hartlepool United manager Danny Wilson has rubbished speculation that defender Michael Nelson or any other player will be leaving the club.

Nelson had been linked with a move to League One rivals Leicester City but Wilson has quashed the rumour.

"No one has contacted me about Michael Nelson and if they did they'd get a blunt no," he told BBC Tees.

"I can't let anybody out at this moment in time, let alone the January transfer window. It's the silly season."

Pools have struggled with injuries in recent weeks, and a flu virus has swept through the club this week, hampering Wilson's selection for the weekend's trip to Hereford.

And the former Barnsley manager admitted there is little he can do but deal with the issue.

"We can't worry too much about it, because it's the nature of football with injuries and suspensions and it's not just football that's suffering with the flu virus, it's everywhere.

"We've had quite a few boys who have suffered with it, Tony Sweeney's contracted it, on top of Jamie McCunnie, Ben Clark and Joe Tait.

"We'll get through it, we'll get through it like we always do."
