Wilson has seen his side concede just once in three games
Hartlepool United manager Danny Wilson concedes his side's recent good run is down to "a slice of luck" defensively.
Saturday's 1-0 defeat at Leyton Orient was Pools' first in five games, and Wilson is delighted to see his side pushing for the play-offs.
"We've made a couple of bad decisions and haven't been punished, and that has been the difference," he told BBC Tees.
"Anyone can put a decent run together, and we've lifted ourselves on to the tails of the teams in the top six."
Saturday sees Wilson's side travelling to Brighton in the FA Cup, minus the services of striker Kevin Kyle, who scored the winner in the league encounter between the two clubs a fortnight ago.
And Wilson remains uncertain whether he can extend Kyle's loan deal when the league programme returns next weekend.
"He wouldn't play this weekend and we didn't expect him to either. It's ongoing and we're still trying to get him in," he said.
"They want an increase in his wage. Whether we can afford it, we'll have to wait and see but at this stage I wouldn't have thought we would.
"Things do change. We'll have to wait and see whether other clubs have come in for him and we've put our marker down."
