Danny Wilson is pleased with the season's outcome as a whole
Hartlepool United boss Danny Wilson has assured fans that his squad is fit and firing ahead of the last three games of the season.
"Everyone says we've got the flip-flops and the swimming trunks on ready for the summer holidays," he told BBC Tees.
"I don't think that is the case at all. Perhaps there's a psychological thing about us being safe but we've still got plenty to play for on the field.
"Even if it's just playing for pride. We want to finish as high as we can."
Wilson led Pools to automatic promotion from League Two last May. And, despite murmurings of discontent after a run of just one point in three games that has seen Pools slump to 14th, Wilson believes the club has enjoyed a reasonable season.
"We've got nothing to be ashamed of," he said. "We've played some excellent football this year.
"There's disappointment. I'm sure fans are disappointed as much as I am. I felt the way we started the season was like a steamtrain.
"Unfortunately we didn't get the performances later in the season. But that's the way football is but we've got to make sure we don't get disappointed."
