Danny Wilson has made his first signing as Hartlepool boss - former Cardiff City midfielder Willie Boland. The 31-year-old Irishman, made over 200 league appearances for Cardiff, but was released at the end of last season.
He had a trial at Swansea in July and spent time with Pools' League Two rivals Grimsby earlier this week, but has now put pen to paper at Hartlepool.
Pools' transfer embargo was lifted this week after their playing budget fell below the 60% of turnover permitted.
