Scott won 11 games out of 40 during his time at Victoria Park |
Hartlepool boss Martin Scott has left the club by mutual consent after an investigation into a dressing-room incident after the defeat by Blackpool. The news was announced after meetings with Scott and chairman Ken Hodcroft.
"It has now been agreed Martin will no longer be first-team manager," said a statment issued on behalf of the club.
"He will leave to pursue his Uefa Pro Licence coaching badge, spend time with his family and move forward with his career and other interests."
Youth team coach Paul Stephenson, who had been put in temporary charge of the side, will continue in that role until a successor is named.
Scott wished the team good luck in a statement issued by the club.
"I have enjoyed my five-and-a-half years with the club but because of various circumstances I believe it is in the best interests of the club, my family and myself that I depart and allow the club to move on," he said.
"I wish the players and club success on and off the field and encourage them to now focus fully on climbing the League One table.
"I would also like to thanks the chairman for his complete understanding of recent events."
Scott was named permanent manager last June, having been caretaker since Neale Cooper left last season and taken the club to the play-off final, where they lost to Sheffield Wednesday.
But this season Hartlepool have struggled, and the defeat at Bloomfield Road left them third from bottom of League One and without a win in ten games.
