Hartlepool defender Michael Nelson has asked to leave Victoria Park. The League One club, currently lying 13th in the table, has confirmed that Nelson has handed in a written transfer-request.
The highly-rated 22-year-old joined Hartlepool from Bury - where he had been voted player of the season - for �70,000 in June 2003.
Central defender Nelson has started more than 50 League games for Neale Cooper's side, scoring three times.
