Hamilton say an operation to repair cruciate ligament damage to their forward Derek Lyle has been successful.
Lyle suffered the injury early in Hamilton's 0-0 league match at home against Falkirk.
Accies boss Billy Reid told BBC Scotland: "It's going to be a long road to recovery for Derek.
"He'll get decent rehab here, and Derek looks after himself, but I don't think there's any point putting a timescale on when he can play again yet."
Lyle collapsed after his studs stuck in the turf with less than a minute played of the match at New Douglas Park on 20 September.
"It's a travesty what's happened to him and we're disappointed," added Reid.
"For the first time since he came to the club, he's become a regular in the side.
"He's been outstanding this season and that makes it even more disappointing."
