Hamilton Accies have moved to bolster their squad in light of a spate of injuries by signing former Olympique Lyonnais defender Lamine Diatta.

The 33-year-old Senegal international, who had most recently been on trial with Stoke City, has joined until the end of the season.

And he could make his Scottish Premier League debut against St Mirren.

Accies have also signed defender Andreu Ramos Isus, 20, from Deportivo Santa Eulalia Ibiza on an amateur basis.

But Hamilton stressed on their website that he is seen as one for the future.

"Andreu is not eligible to play for the club in competitive first-team fixtures and will figure in the reserves' remaining fixtures this season," the club stated.

Accies have also extended 17-year-old Grant Gillespie for a further two seasons and added two young players and goalkeeping coach Brian Potter to their first-team squad to cover for injuries.

Defender Matt Sheridan and forward Stuart Mills join Potter and Diatta in being given squad numbers.

Diatta, who has made 40 appearances for his country, began his career with Toulouse before moving to Olympique Marseille and Stade Rennais, where he made 129 appearances in five seasons.

He won a move to Lyon, where he played 30 times in two years before heading for St Etienne and then to Besiktas.

Diatta moved to Newcastle United in 2008 after buying out his contract with the Turkish club but played just twice for the English Premier League side.
