Jamie McClen was once on Newcastle's books |
Hamilton Academical have signed midfielder Jamie McClen from Kidderminster Harriers. The 27-year-old, who also played for Newcastle, Motherwell and Carlisle, had been on loan with Bedlington Terriers.
Hamilton secretary Scott Struthers said the club had been chasing the player for some time and had to clear away red tape over his registration.
Meanwhile, midfielder David Winters has had his contract with Accies extended until the end of the season.
But 32-year-old defender Kevin Sharp has been released despite having played the last eight games for Accies.
Manager Billy Reid told his club website: "We now have players coming back from injury.
"Kevin has done well for us and we wish hm all the best."
Lewis Coult, who played as a trialist with Alloa on Saturday, and fellow youth striker Shaun Forster have also been released.
