Danny Carlton hit 59 Conference goals in his non-league days with Morecambe
Grimsby Town have signed Bury striker Danny Carlton on a month's loan.
The former Carlisle United front man, 26, who started his career in non-league with Morecambe, needs match fitness after recovering from injury.
Carlton joined Bury from Carlisle in July 2009 but snapped his Achilles in only his second game for the Shakers.
He is now due to remain at Blundell Park until 23 October, during which time he could play six games, starting with Saturday's trip to Altrincham.
Carlton has not started a game since being carried off half an hour into Bury's 2-0 Carling Cup defeat by West Bromwich Albion last August.
He has made just four appearances from the bench this season, during which has has managed barely an hour's playing time.
Grimsby, relegated from the Football League for the first time in 100 years in May, currently lie 12th in the Blue Square Bet Premier, but need some impetus up front, having scored just 10 goals as many games.
