Midfielder Ciaran Toner has had his Grimsby Town contract cancelled by mutual consent.
The 26-year-old Northern Ireland international was placed on the transfer list along with defender Nick Fenton at the end of last season.
Toner joined the Mariners from Lincoln in 2005 and scored 15 goals in 108 appearances for the club.
The former Peterborough, Bristol Rovers, Leyton Orient and Cambridge had a year left to run on his deal.
