The Mariners have not been to Wembley for 10 years

A 1-0 aggregate win over Morecambe has set up a Trophy final against MK Dons on 30 March at Wembley.

Buckley told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm pleased, people have been talking again about the club because of the Wembley thing, it's good for the club and town.

"We have put a smile back on the faces, Wembley has got a special magic."

A near-capacity Blundell Park saw the Mariners draw 0-0 with Morecambe in Tuesday's second leg and Buckley paid tribute to the support his side received.

"It always brings them out a bit of a cup tie like that. I'm really delighted for them, it's probably the third generation of Grimsby fans I have seen.

"After the disappointment for the fans and the club at the Millennium Stadium a couple of years ago [losing the League Two play-off final], where they did fantastically to get there, now we are going to the home of football."

The Mariners will have a dress rehearsal for the Trophy final when they face MK Dons in their next league game at Blundell Park on Friday.

The Grimsby manager said his side will enjoy the victory and the thought of a trip to Wembley before focusing on the next game.

"It is weird because we are playing MK Dons here Friday night and we are going to play them at Wembley. We will dust ourselves off and we are training Thursday.

"After the next 24 hours are done we will set our minds on Friday night and giving them a game."
