Wadsworth said it had been a turbulent week for the club |
Gretna caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth said he was proud of his players despite losing 3-0 to Aberdeen. "We didn't pose a huge threat and we knew set-plays would be our best chance of getting a goal," he told BBC Sport. Doubts were cast last week as to whether Gretna would be able to field a side at Pittodrie, but players from the U19 squad stepped up. "The response and the effort of the players was commendable and it's been a difficult time for them." Wadsworth said entering administration and players refusing to play because of concerns over medical insurance had taken its toll on the club. "We didn't even know the team until this morning. So we had no preparation in terms of shape and I have to say the players did really well."
