Fears about the future of the Raydale club had surfaced on Monday when it was revealed that staff, including players, had not been paid.

A payment has now been sanctioned for next Monday.

Club owner Brooks Mileson has been released from Newcastle General Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery from a brain infection.

Mileson has been responsible for the payroll at the club and it was his admittance to hospital that delayed payment to the club's staff.

Another payment, for next week's wages, is to be put through on Wednesday.

Gretna chief executive Graeme Muir says there has been a change in mood at the club at the end of a tough week for two reasons.

"A week on Monday we should be back online," he told BBC Sport.

"There was a few smiles in the dressing room this morning among the staff and that was an encouragement.

"But the biggest enocuragement of all was the news that Brooks was allowed home and he's recovering.

"That was a massive boost to everyone and I think it reflected in the training session that followed."

However, an expected Friday meeting between the SPL bottom side's players and the Scottish Professional Footballers Association did not go ahead.
