Irons encouraged despite defeat
Gretna head coach Davie Irons
Irons watched his side trouble Rangers at Fir Park
Gretna head coach David Irons was pleased with his team's showing against Rangers despite a 2-1 SPL defeat.

"I was delighted with the players' spirit and attitude but it was disappointing to lose a goal just before the interval," he said.

"Of course it's nice to hear that we have been praised by Walter (Smith) but it doesn't make it any easier to take.

"I have to credit the boys as they bounced back and we created a few chances and caused Rangers problems."

Gretna are bottom of the table with just ten points from 21 games but Irons knows there is still a lot to play for in the fight against relegation.

"We have a game against Falkirk on Saturday and now we have to regroup to try and take something from that."
