David Irons saw signs of improvement in this team |
Gretna manager David Irons said he remains proud of his team's performance, after snatching a draw against Hearts at Tynecastle. "I said to the players last week I was really proud of them even though they fell to a 4-2 defeat," said Irons.
"We are not getting carried away but to be honest I am very proud of the way they thought and the way they gave their all for the team."
Gretna claimed a point 10 minutes from time through Craig Barr.
Irons also singled out goalkeeper Fleming for praise, after the player put on a sterling performance to keep Gretna's chances of sneaking a point alive.
"I thought the goalkeeper was immense for us, he made a couple of wonderful saves and kept us in the game.
"He is just a young lad, he is only 19 and he is growing in every game.
"We had lost eight goals prior to this game and that could have knocked someone but he has been really positive in each game and he has not let it get to him.
"He has a future in this game," added Irons.
