Gretna are set to make their first summer signing with former Carlisle United midfielder Paul Murray arriving on a one-year deal. Murray is an ex-England Under-21, 'B' and youth international.
Gretna director of club development Mick Wadsworth, told the club website: "Paul is a terrific player and will be a great asset to the club.
"His determination matches his ability and I know he will bring a lot to the Gretna squad."
The Black and Whites are in the process of strengthening their squad for their first-ever season of SPL football and Wadsworth - who gave him a debut as a 17-year-old - added: "Paul has played at the highest level and Im delighted to be working with him again."
He then had spells at Queens Park Rangers, Oldham Athletic and Southampton before following Wadsworth to Portuguese side Beira-Mar.
However, after suffering a serious knee injury in Portugal, he returned to Carlisle and made 14 appearances last season, scoring one goal.
Murray has also played alongside Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard after breaking into the international set-up in 1996.
